Information on registered lawyers, law practices and lawyer discipline

The Board provides the following registers for public information about lawyers and law practices:

The Public Register of legal Practitioners and Law Practices

This will tell you if a lawyer or a law practice is entitled to provide legal services in Victoria.

Only lawyers and law practices that hold a current registration in Victoria will appear here.

You can search for:

  • A local legal practitioner (barrister or solicitor);
  • A locally registered foreign lawyer; or
  • A law practice.

The Public Register is updated daily.

Register of Disciplinary Action (RODA)

The RODA lists Victorian-registered lawyers who have been found guilty of a disciplinary offence.

You can search for a lawyer by surname or first name, or for the name of the law practice or employer where the lawyer worked at the time of their offending. You can also search by the type of penalty handed down.

Most listings will be removed from the RODA after five years, unless an order lasts longer. All lawyers who have been struck-off are listed permanently.

The RODA is updated daily.
